Advanced Metal Roofing is an Approved Contractor with Electric and Gas Industries Association (EGIA)

James Kenton, owner of Advanced Metal Roofing, announces the company's membership and Approved Contractor status in the Electric and Gas Industries Association (EGIA). This alliance will help promote Advanced Metal Roofing's dedication to energy efficient home roofing solutions.

April 21, 2009, Wilmington, N.C. - Advanced Metal Roofing owner James Kenton announces their new membership in the Electric and Gas Industries Association (EGIA). In addition, they have qualified, through a careful screening and review process, as an Approved Contractor with the EGIA. Advanced Metal Roofing joined this organization to further its longstanding interests in promoting energy efficiency for home owners and energy independence for America.

Advanced Metal Roofing is a residential metal roofing company that recently began installing the exclusive, patented MetalMan Roofing Systems as a way to provide homeowners with the highest quality roofing materials available, including Galvalume® steel and Kynar 500® paint finish. The Kynar 550® PVDF based resin, in particular, is credited with reducing home energy consumption by up to 42% as part of the complete MetalMan metal roofing system. It can achieve solar reflectance of over 70% which allows the roof surface to remain cooler, thereby transferring less heat into the home and requiring less work from air conditioning units.

In addition, the use of Galvalume® Steel and Kynar 500® paint in the MetalMan Roofing System means that homeowners are doing their part to help the environment. A MetalMan roof won't deteriorate, rust, corrode, or need replacing over a long period of time, especially as compared to an asphalt shingle roof. Plus, by reflecting solar radiation and emitting infrared energy, the roof is working to reduce air pollution as well as potential smog and urban heat islands in dense metropolitan areas.

The EGIA, according to their website, "is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions through the home improvement, appliance retailer, and renewable energy industries." James Kenton of Advanced Metal Roofing says: "Joining the EGIA is such a perfect fit for Advanced Metal Roofing. This membership supports our efforts to promote energy efficient home construction and at the same time allows us to join forces with like-minded contractors where we can draw greater awareness to energy efficient home resources. Plus, we are proud to have earned the designation of EGIA Approved Contractor."

The EGIA provides financing of home improvement and renewable energy solutions for homeowners who use EGIA Approved Contractors. This is a valuable resource in itself for anyone interested in pursuing their dream of an energy efficient, earth-friendly home.

Kynar Paint Finish - The Best in Metal Roofing

Advanced Metal Roofing installs the exclusive, patented MetalMan Roofing System, which uses Kynar 500® Paint Finish to ensure that your home will get the best protection available from a metal roof.

Kynar 500® is a PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) resin-based coating with an extremely good gloss and color retention capacity. In fact, Kynar is the only type of finish that meets the Metal Construction Association (MCA) criteria for Premium Performance. Finishes such as Polyester or Polyester Silicone only meet the MCA criteria for Standard Performance.

Kynar is considered the top performing and best rated paint finish in the metal roofing industry. This is because of it's flexibility, it's ability to withstand the rigors of the outdoor elements, and it's ability to retain color for a long period of time, far longer than Polyester-based metal roof paints.

From the manufacturer's website:
Architects around the world specify Kynar 500® PVDF resin-based coatings to protect aluminum, galvanized steel and aluminized steel. No other coating system withstands the rigors of nature and time like those based on Kynar 500 resins. This high-performance fluoropolymer resin, with its extraordinary capability to retain color and gloss, keeps painted metal looking vibrant and appealing.
Please contact Advanced Metal Roofing to learn more about the MetalMan Roofing System, Kynar 500® paint finish, and how you can save money every year on home heating and cooling bills because of your metal roof.

Energy Star Increased Tax Credit For Residential Metal Roofing

For immediate release:

Wilmington, NC, April 01, 2009 -- Advanced Metal Roofing owner, James Kenton, announces news of an increased tax credit for homeowners who purchase and install Energy Star® labeled metal roofing. The increased Federal Tax Credits for Energy Efficiency, updated for 2009, are a result of President Obama's new Stimulus Package and qualified homeowners may be eligible for a tax credit worth 30% of the cost of a new metal roof, up to $1,500.

Advanced Metal Roofing installs the exclusive MetalMan Roofing System and uses Energy Star® rated reflective roofing products with each installation. Energy Star® qualified metal roof products reflect more of the sun's rays which can lower roof surface temperature and decrease the amount of heat allowed to enter the home. This not only helps to keep the home cooler in itself, but will, in turn, help to reduce the amount of air conditioning needed in the house and can then reduce the energy needed to cool the home during the hot summer months. This benefits the homeowner and the environment together by reducing energy and energy-related costs.

James Kenton, owner of Advanced Metal Roofing, says: "Advanced Metal Roofing has always concentrated on offering energy efficient, American made metal roofing products, to the point where we now offer Energy Star® rated products exclusively with the MetalMan Roofing System. All of Advanced Metal Roofing's 16 Kynar 500® paint finishes, including black, meet the requirements for the Federal energy tax credit. Plus, we are now able to offer a 42% Energy Savings Pledge because of the high-performing Kynar 500® finish."

Advanced Metal Roofing specializes in residential metal roofing installation. Established in 1994, this family owned and operated metal roofing company began offering the MetalMan Roofing System exclusively in July 2008. The MetalMan Roofing System is constructed of Galvalume steel, Cool Roof Technology with Energy Star® qualified products, and the industry-best Kynar 500® paint finish.

Homeowners who purchase and install a new metal roof that uses Energy Star® rated materials between now and December 31, 2010 can be eligible for the increased federal tax credit that rewards citizens who make energy efficient choices to benefit themselves, the community, and the environment as a whole.

Ryan McInnis Tells Of Tiger Shark Battle

Ryan McInnis, new Vice President of North Carolina's Advanced Metal Roofing Company, recently went on the national talk-show circuit, including CBS's The Early Show and Discovery News to discuss a battle he and his diving mates encountered with a 12-foot tiger shark. His story is also recounted in the New York Post.

In addition to his executive position with Advanced Metal Roofing, Ryan McInnis has a degree in marine biology and is also a free-swimming (without scuba gear) spear-fisherman and videographer. He was on a game fishing trip with friends during the making of a video about the topic when the battle with the tiger shark ensued.

Accompanying McInnis on this trip in June, 2008, were experienced spear-fishermen Craig Clasen, Brian Head and Cameron Kirkconnell as well as photographer D.J. Struntz who was working with McInnis on the video project.

Together, they boated 60 miles into the Gulf of Mexico to a spot where they'd fished before, and all was going well until McInnis became isolated from the group towards the end of the trip, when all the catch was in the boat and he was filming some extra underwater footage. McInnis suddenly noticed a 12-foot tiger shark (The tiger shark is the second most aggressive shark after the Great White) charge towards him and he tried to scare it off by kicking in his direction. While he momentarily redirected the shark, the shark came in again and began swimming in tight circles around him.

McInnis yelled for help and, after concluding that the shark was not retreating, Craig Clasen fired his spear-gun which penetrated but did not work to kill the shark. As spear-fishermen, the men believe they must finish the kill as the most humane outcome for the animal. What ensued was a 2-hour battle of man versus shark, caught on McInnis's camera. Clasen speared, wrestled, and knifed the shark - all in an effort to make sure the shark was dead.

McInnis, Clasen, and their diving team felt deep remorse at the outcome of this situation. They all have a tremendous respect for the ocean and marine life and beleive that spear-fishing is still the most humane way to hunt and kill fish to eat.
